Privacy policy

Plain English, no fine-print games. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Last updated 27 June 2026

The short version

WEB GRENADE is a web design studio in Auckland, New Zealand. We only collect the details you choose to give us, we use them to reply to you and do the work, we do not sell them, and you can ask to see or delete them any time. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

  • When you send an enquiry: your name and email, and optionally your business or website, phone number, what you need, and any message you write.
  • When you use the site grader: the website address you enter, and your email if you ask us to send the full teardown.
  • Basic technical data: standard server logs our hosting provider keeps (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site running and secure.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, sensitive information.

Why we collect it

  • To reply to your enquiry and talk through your project.
  • To run the site grade you requested and send you the result.
  • To keep the website working, fast, and secure.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We use a small number of trusted providers purely to deliver these features:

  • Email delivery: enquiries are sent to us through an email service provider so they reach our inbox.
  • Site grader: when you grade a site, the website address you enter is sent to Google PageSpeed Insights and to an AI model to analyse that public page. We do not send your personal details to those services, only the URL and its public content.
  • Hosting: the site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data to serve and protect it.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics (a Google service) to see how the site is used. It receives anonymised usage data such as the pages visited and device type, never your name or contact details.

Some of these providers may process data outside New Zealand. We only use reputable providers with their own privacy protections.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only as long as we need them to help you and for our own reasonable records. If you ask us to delete them, we will, unless we are legally required to keep them.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just get in touch and we will sort it out.

Cookies and analytics

We keep this to a minimum and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful so we can improve the site. It sets a first-party cookie and collects anonymised data such as the pages you visit, your approximate location (worked out from your IP address, which Google does not store), and the type of device you use. It does not identify you by name and we do not use it for advertising. You can opt out on every site with Google's browser opt-out add-on, or block cookies in your browser settings.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
